What happens after Yahoo acquires you

Wed, Feb 23, 2011|Filed in: Bookmarks|Topics: , , |Comments Off on What happens after Yahoo acquires you

From 37signals: Whether it’s Flickr, Delicious, MyBlogLog, or Upcoming, the post-purchase story is a similar one. Both sides talk about all the wonderful things they will do together. Then reality sets in. They get bogged down trying to overcome integration obstacles, endless meetings, and stifling bureaucracy. The products slow down or stop moving forward entirely. Once they hit the two-year mark and are free to leave, the founders take off. The sites are left to flounder or ride into the sunset. And customers are left holding the bag. · Go to What happens after Yahoo acquires you →

Wed, Feb 23, 2011|Filed in: Bookmarks|Topics: , , , |Comments Off on Ditch Delicious, use Pinboard

There doesn’t seem to be a passionate group of developers loving and caring for the product and making it better over time. Or at least not worse. Traffic is stagnating or dropping, depending on which analytics service you look at. Founder Joshua Schachter left long ago in frustration, and is now at Google. All Delicious really needs to do is let me bookmark sites without a lot of distraction. It hasn’t been good at that for a long, long while. · Go to Ditch Delicious, use Pinboard →

From PC Mag: Delicious on Friday denied that it was shutting down, and insisted that it was instead shopping for a home outside of Yahoo. "We are not shutting down Delicious," the company said in a blog post. "While we have determined that there is not a strategic fit at Yahoo, we believe there is a ideal home for Delicious outside of the company where it can be resourced to the level where it can be competitive." · Go to Delicious breaking off from Yahoo, not shutting down →
